Because the stock Sony tripod foot requires you to screw on a separate quick-release plate to mount it to a tripod, many videographers and photographers upgrade to a third-party replacement foot, such as the highly popular iShoot IS-THS18110.

This replacement foot solves the mounting issue by integrating an Arca-Swiss dovetail directly into the base of the stand. This allows you to clamp the heavy 18-110mm cinema zoom lens directly into a compatible fluid head or ball head, drastically reducing the overall rig height and preventing the lens from twisting on a single mounting screw.
