Cable & Snakes

A snake cable, also called an audio multicore cable, bundles many separate lines into one jacket so a whole stage worth of audio travels over a single run. Each line keeps its own channel and ends at an XLR connector or a stage box. Snakes cut floor clutter and speed up setup compared to running individual cables to the mixing console.

A standard audio snake sends each channel to one place, like the board. A splitter snake cable copies those line level signals so they reach two destinations at once, such as a front-of-house mixer and a monitor amp. Splitter snakes show up anywhere one source has to feed more than one mix.

The collection spans audio cable, speaker cable, balanced and XLR runs, digital and ethernet cable, lighting lines, stage boxes, composite multicores, and bulk cable by the foot. Listings cover a range of connector types, lengths, and channel counts so you can match cable to your rig.

Most pro audio cable uses XLR connectors, with a three-pin XLR male on one end and a female on the other for balanced lines. You will also find quarter-inch plugs on instrument and speaker lines, Speakon plugs for higher-power speaker connections, and data connectors on ethernet runs. Each product page lists the exact connector and conductor details.

Yes. A cable carries a signal as long as the conductor, drain wire, and connectors stay intact, and that does not change with age. Every cable and snake sold by AVGear is tested before listing and graded on our functionality and cosmetic scale, so you see the condition up front. A solid connection from a graded used cable performs the same as new, including heavy-duty stage snakes built for the road.

Stock rotates, but you will regularly see names like On-Stage, Blizzard, Canare, Belden, Comprehensive Cables, and Audio-Technica across audio, speaker, and data lines. Because these are pre-owned stock items that move quickly, the lineup changes often, so it pays to check back.

Yes. If you have audio snakes, speaker cable, stage boxes, or other pro AV gear from a past setup sitting idle, AVGear buys outright, takes consignment, and runs auctions. Head to Sell Your Gear, tell us what you have, and we handle valuation through sale.

Your microphones feed the stage box, the lines run to the mixer, and the board sends a mix back out to your speakers and to the monitor amp on stage.

Yes. Networked audio systems like Dante and AVB use standard ethernet cable to carry digital signals between stage boxes, mixers, and other devices. Cat5e or Cat6 cable works for most installations, though shielded cable may be required in electrically noisy environments.
