The AJA HB-T-SDI is a professional HDBaseT transmitter mini-converter engineered to extend 3G-SDI signals over long distances using standard Ethernet cabling. This compact unit accepts 3G-SDI input and converts it to HDBaseT format for transmission to a compatible receiver such as the HB-R-SDI, enabling uncompressed video delivery up to 100 meters (328 feet) over Cat 5e or Cat 6a cable without signal degradation or added latency. The unit is ideal for digital signage, fixed AV installations, live events, broadcast environments, post-production facilities, and on-set applications where long cable runs are required.

Beyond simple video extension, the HB-T-SDI supports bidirectional IR and RS-232 control signals over the same Ethernet cable, allowing remote control of source devices or displays at either end of the link. This integrated approach eliminates the need for separate control wiring, simplifying installation and reducing overall system costs. The HDBaseT protocol ensures compatibility with a wide range of professional equipment, and the unit can be “mixed and matched” with AJA’s HDMI-based HDBaseT Mini-Converters for customized video I/O on either end of the Ethernet connection.

The HB-T-SDI features a rugged metal enclosure suitable for permanent mounting behind a display, inside a rack, or directly on a camera rig. Configuration is accomplished via the USB port using AJA's free Mini-Config software, providing easy setup and firmware updates. The unit supports embedded audio with 8 channels (4 pairs) selectable from 16 SDI channels, and is HDCP compliant for protected content. Powered by a universal 5-20VDC input, the unit consumes just 9 watts maximum and includes an external power supply with international plug connections.
