By manipulating the tiny hinged leaves, lighting technicians can precisely shape a narrow beam of light, making them essential for tabletop product videography, highlighting specific architectural details, or hiding small practical accent lights within a tight theatrical set.

Despite their incredibly small form factor, these barndoors are typically constructed from heat-resistant aluminum to safely handle the localized thermal output of small halogen bulbs.
