The Tiffen 105C Black Pro-Mist 1/2 is a professional-grade 105mm glass filter designed to create a distinctive, cinematic look by softening excess sharpness and reducing contrast in video and still photography. Engineered with Tiffen's proprietary ColorCore technology, this filter features a coarse thread pitch that helps prevent cross-threading when mounting on large-diameter cine-style lenses. The Grade 1/2 density provides a balanced diffusion effect—more pronounced than the subtle 1/4 but less than the strong Grade 1—smoothing facial wrinkles and blemishes while generating controlled, pearlescent halation around highlights, yet unlike traditional soft focus filters, it retains critical image detail and sharpness.

Ideal for portrait, fashion, and motion picture applications, the Black Pro-Mist 1/2 reduces highlight values and slightly lowers overall contrast to create a soft, pastel-like quality of light. Constructed from high-quality optical glass, the filter maintains optical clarity while the black anodized aluminum ring remains durable yet lightweight. The 105mm front accessory threads allow for stacking additional filters when needed, such as variable NDs, for expanded creative control. The included soft pouch provides safe storage and protection when not in use.
